Behavioral Consultation Eclipse highlights the important need for families to have a chance to voice their concerns about their child and family unit. In-home consultations provide an opportunity for Eclipse clinicians to hear family concerns, observe the child in his or her natural environment, and explain the services offered by Eclipse. Behavioral consultations exist to inform families about the clinician, treatment options, and development of treatment goals. In-home visits allow the clinician to gain understanding about the child in need of services and the family’s operation as an entity.
What you can expect from an initial consultation: 1A clinician who will actively listen to your concerns and goals. 2Proof of the clinician’s credentials and experience. 3Clear explanations of fees charged for services rendered. 4Clear descriptions of the services offered by Eclipse. 5Initial focus and directed treatment strategies.
In-Home Behavior Therapy In-home behavior therapy is available in 1.5 to 2 hour sessions. Initial programming, designed around the initial behavioral consultation, is implemented throughout each session. Sessions will flow with play as the primary means of therapy. The Eclipse clinician will intersperse opportunities for the child to learn new behaviors and responses within the child's preferred activities. Parent/Guardian involvement is encouraged, but not required.
In home therapy may also be conducted in the community. For example, if going to the grocery store is problematic sessions can be conducted in that setting.
School Consultations Eclipse values the partnership between the home and school. Educators and parents working together should lead to more optimal progress for the child. Consultations at school collaborate between the two places the child spends most of his or her time. Recognizing that both environments have unique strengths and limitations the collaboration between home and school can streamline the child's individualized programming.
Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) meetings are often a helpful and often necessary part of the home and school collaboration. Eclipse can write goals, accommodations, and modifications for IEPs. IEPs can be a great opportunity for collaboration.
Parent/Guardian Training Parenting any child can be difficult and each child is different. Parents/Guardians may find that their successful parenting style with one child may be unsuccessful with the next. Parenting a child with an impairment or disability adds new challenges. Eclipse can help by providing parent/guardian training, focusing on achieving personal goals for the child. Eclipse can also teach parent/guardians how to help siblings of the child with disabilities interact with him or her in positive, patient ways. Parent/Guardian trainings can address: compliance, establishing routines, building interpersonal skills, or specific concerns.
Parent/Guardian training can also include training on the child’s current programming strategies. The more therapy a child receives the more quickly the child is likely to progress.
The presence of competent help may significantly reduce a family’s stress levels. Finding a nanny or caregiver that can expertly interact with the child/children and his or her needs, can be very difficult. Eclipse can help by providing training to the nanny on basic or complex strategies. The nanny can learn how to adhere to consistent daily routines and build relationships with the child/children to ultimately increase the child/children’s compliance and happiness.
Nanny training is another opportunity to increase the number of therapy hours that the child/children receives, and at a decreased out-of-pocket cost.
Eclipse offers trainings for educators, caregivers, families and other members of the community. Upon request, the trainings are tailored to the specific audience and skill level.
