Happy Medium Language has been developed over a number of years by Rosalie Byrd Prendergast, a board-certified behavior analyst, and her wonderful team of therapists. Throughout her interactions with children and families it became clear to Rosalie that rigid thinking/responding was often a source of emotional dysregulation and behavioral rigidity in the children she serves. Having watched many families struggle to help their child regulate their emotions and become more flexible, she embarked on a journey to create a program that would help naturally rigid thinkers/responders see in shades of gray, rather than black and white.
This program is designed to support many types of learners including those with Anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Developmental Delays, Behavior Disorders, and other individuals who may be rigid thinkers and responders.
In an effort to make this manual available for learners quickly, the supporting information including, research, examples from learners, and a blog for comments, questions, and concerns will be coming shortly. Below you will find a portion of the introduction to Happy Medium Language and a sample of the worksheets in the manual. Hopefully this will provide you with an opportunity to learn a bit about the program. Included in the manual is an introduction to Happy Medium Language, an introduction to teaching utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and many worksheets to complete with your learner. Once the blog is up an running it is our hope that you will reach out with questions and concerns about our programs so that Happy Medium Language can continue to evolve!
